Job Summary
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is inviting applications for its 2025 Internship Programme. These internships are open to unemployed South African youth and graduates between the ages of 18–35 years, offering 12 months of workplace experience across multiple fields, including administration, finance, law, social work, forensics, IT, and technical trades. This opportunity provides participants with practical exposure, mentorship, and skills development, while contributing to community service and public safety.
Internship Categories and Duties
1. Administrative & Human Resources
- Posts: Graduate Administrative Interns (x190), HR Management, HR Development, Employee Health & Wellness, Service Complaints (x2).
- Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Public Administration, HR, Business Management, or related.
- Duties: Office administration, HR processes, employee wellness support, and service delivery.
2. Finance & Supply Chain
- Posts: Supply Chain Management (x15), Budget & Accounting (x2).
- Qualifications: BCom in Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Accounting.
- Duties: Procurement, budgeting, expenditure tracking, and asset management.
3. Legal & Policy
- Posts: Legal Administrative Intern (x14), Legal Services (x2), Organizational & Strategic Development (x2).
- Qualifications: LLB or related degree.
- Duties: Drafting legal documents, litigation support, compliance, and policy development.
4. Technical & Artisan
- Posts: Motor Mechanic (x50), Assistant Motor Mechanic (x6), Mechanical Services (x5), Electrician (x2), Plumber (x2), Bricklayer (x3), Artisan Graduate (x5).
- Qualifications: N2–N6 or TVET College qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Artisan trades.
- Duties: Vehicle repairs, building maintenance, electrical and plumbing work.
5. Forensic & Crime Analysis
- Posts: Operational Crime Analysis (x3), Crime Information Management (x42), Forensic Commercial Investigator.
- Qualifications: Degree in Criminology, Forensics, Policing, or Data Analysis.
- Duties: Crime trend analysis, forensic reporting, and investigative support.
6. Psychology, Wellness & Social Work
- Posts: Psychometrists, Psychologists (x2), Social Work (x12), Admin Intern (Psychology) (x4).
- Qualifications: BA/BSocSci in Psychology, Social Work, or Psychometry. Registration with HPCSA/SACSSP where applicable.
- Duties: Assessments, counselling, outreach programmes, employee wellness.
7. Communication, Media & Creative Roles
- Posts: Communication (x3), Media/Journalism, Graphic Designer (x3), Marketing & Stakeholder, Photographer, Videographer, Camera Operator, Video Production, Drone Operators (x2), Sound Technician.
- Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Film/TV.
- Duties: Content creation, branding, media relations, video production, sound editing.
8. Information Technology & Radio Technical
- Posts: IT Specialist, IT Interns (x2), Radio Technical Student Intern, Radio Technical (x4).
- Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering.
- Duties: IT support, database management, systems troubleshooting, and radio communication maintenance.
9. Library & Information Science
- Posts: Librarian Intern, Library Assistant, Assistant Librarian.
- Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Library & Information Science.
- Duties: Cataloguing, resource management, and user support.
10. Health & Nutrition
- Posts: Dietician Intern.
- Qualifications: BSc in Dietetics/Nutrition.
- Duties: Dietary assessments, health promotion, and meal planning.
Minimum Requirements
- South African citizen aged 18–35 years.
- Unemployed, with no previous full-time work experience.
- Relevant qualification for the internship category applied for.
- Must not have participated in any previous internship programme.
