Transnet, one of South Africa’s largest state-owned enterprises, continues to empower young people through its Non-Technical Work Integrated Learnership Programme (WIL). This initiative is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the company’s operations outside of technical fields while gaining valuable skills, workplace exposure, and career growth opportunities.
Programme Purpose
The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme aims to provide students and recent graduates with practical workplace experience. Participants apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment while improving their employability through:

Hands-on training

Mentorship

Exposure to industry-specific projects and tasks
The programme runs for 18 months and equips learners with the skills needed for future career success.
Position Outputs
Task Execution
-
Assist with departmental or project-specific tasks.

Perform routine operational duties under supervision.

Support administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.
Learning & Development
-
Attend training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes.
-
Shadow experienced professionals to gain industry knowledge.

Participate in problem-solving and analytical activities.
Communication & Collaboration
-
Engage with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
-
Provide regular progress updates on assigned tasks.

Act as a central point of contact for queries and support.
Research & Analysis
-
Conduct data collection, research, and analysis.

Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools.

Contribute to process improvement projects.
Compliance & Safety

Follow company policies, safety procedures, and ethical standards.

Ensure confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Matric certificate.

N6 HR Management or N6 Office Administration or N6 Business Management.

South African citizen, aged 18–35.

Preference will be given to people with disabilities.
