Magalies Water: 2026 Bursary Programme for South African Youth
As part of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, Magalies Water invites young, talented South Africans to apply for the 2026 Bursary Programme.
This initiative supports students aged 18 to 35 who wish to pursue studies in scarce and critical fields essential to South Africa’s economic and environmental development. The bursary programme aims to provide academically deserving youth—particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds—with the opportunity to access higher education and build sustainable careers.
Fields of Study Covered
The Magalies Water Bursary Programme 2026 is open to students who intend to study at accredited South African universities, universities of technology, or TVET colleges in the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering (N4–N6 / Diploma / B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
- Electrical Engineering (N4–N6 / Diploma / B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
- Civil Engineering (N4–N6 / Diploma / B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
- Water Care (Diploma / Advanced Diploma) – 2 bursaries available
- Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry (Diploma / B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
- Biotechnology / Microbiology (Diploma / B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
- Financial Accounting (B Degree) – 2 bursaries available
Through these study fields, Magalies Water aims to cultivate a generation of engineers, scientists, and finance professionals who will contribute to South Africa’s water sector and the broader economy.
Who Should Apply?
This bursary is ideal for students who meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: South African citizen aged between 18 and 35 years.
- Academic performance: Minimum average of 65% in Grade 12.
- Background: From previously disadvantaged communities.
- Preference: Given to females and persons with disabilities.
- Institution: Eligible to register or already enrolled at a recognised South African university, university of technology, or college.
Required Documentation
Applicants must submit the following certified documents:
- South African ID (certified copy).
- Grade 11 and latest Matric results (if currently in Grade 12).
- Matric certificate (if completed).
- Latest academic transcript (if at tertiary level).
- Provisional acceptance letter from a recognised institution.
Note: The first four documents must be certified. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
